check all your connections, IDE cable and plugs on the motherboard. backup your EEPROM to your PC if you haven't, it might be your hdd dieing. if you can try a different harddrive in your xbox after making it with XBOXHDM. restore your xbox to retail and RE-softmod it again.
a freezing xbox is odd. maybe a software conflict or hardware malfuntion. just take your time and you'll get it.

Thanks for your replies, I'm sure its not overheating, now what happends as soon as it goes to the dash it freezes. I have my eeprom, but I am not sure where I can get a fresh copy of E:, i got a fresh copy of C: from this site.
I would like to know, can I use the same hardrive that is in the xbox right now, and use xboxhdm? do I need to unlock it?
Thanks Take care

you can use your original harddrive, but you'll have to unlock it with xboxhdm first. but if it's your harddrive that is dieing then there is no point. if you have never used xboxhdm don't use your stock hdd. this way if you screw up you'll still have the stock one to fall back on until you make a good xbox harddrive. if you have the game you modded your xbox with, pop it in and run linux. gain FTP access and you can backup your E drive from there. ( you only need to backup your game saves ) E is not important anyways ( besides the saves ) that you spent hours of gaming to get that far into a game.
but over all try to pop in the game you modded it with and remove the softmod. pop in the game and re-mod your xbox. ( if it dont freeze. ) if it's not freezeing when you play a game from a cold boot then it's prolly a software softmod issue. this will be an easy fix if this is the case.
good luck, hang in there BOOST

Thanks your for your reply and help.
Well, I unlocked I used Xboxdm, I unlocked it, went through the process, then locked it again. Now it would freeze as soon as I get to the dash, or as soon as I start the game.
Do you think this is a hardrive problem?

probably, try making a new harddrive with xboxhdm ( out of your stock hdd ) with only the original xbox C partition only load up you game save to mod your xbox and try it from there.
if that works then you have a save file ( prolly an exploit file ) that is confilting with the system files. I've seen stranger, one of my trianers, when turned on would make my xbox lock up, even when I was watching a movie or playing music. so you never know what it is till you break it down.
try a fresh mod with no game saves or trainers added. BOOST
( Good job with XBOXHDM! most people won't dig in their xbox and do all that.)

Thank you for your reply. The problem is that I did use the stock hardrive. Using xboxhdm, I unlocked it, put ms dash c: on it, then locked it. Put it in my xbox, loaded Mech assault, but it would freeze when the game would start. I know its not the Game because I used it to softmod many other xbox's.
I think it may be the stock hardrive.
Any input? You think that might be the problem
Honestly thank you so much, for your help and time

yeah try another hdd...but if you really want to try and keep the same one, try formatting it again, possibly with a different method.
