need help

hi, am needing a bump into the right direction here. i have a completely stock xbox, i wish to make it where i can ftp into it so i can do some of the stuff that i have been reading about. but im stuck trying to figure out how i get the software onto my xbox so that i can ftp into it. can this be done with a dvd or does it have to be the xbox memory card. and if it does have to be the memory card, how do i get the files onto the memorycard from the computer. any help greatly appriciated. thanks much
