Successful mod, but this problem a month later and I'm out of ideas...

Hey all,
I successfully softmodded my xbox using AR/splinter cell and Krayzie's nDure installer. I installed XBMC and used it without a hitch. I dropped in a spare 60 gig drive I had and softmodded it again (because I formatted the drive using xboxhdm and my original backup with the MS dash) about a week later and I've been using it for a few weeks now without a problem.

Now, out of the blue, it went out on me. I'm getting no AV,  it's rebooting 3 times, and after the third boot it's flashing red & green. I tried my old drive in it and I still get the same thing. I used xboxhdm to format both my original drive as well as the new drive (with my original MS dash backup) and I still get the same thing.

The only thing I've found is some stuff concerning a "clock loop" issue, but I don't really understand all the possible symptoms of that.  The reason that caught my eye is the fact that around the time I noticed my xbox wasn't working was when my wife threw a breaker with her hair dryer in the same room (within a day or two... I hadn't used my xbox much around that time). Does this sound like it could be a possibility?

I'm worried that I might have to try a mod chip... and I still have nightmares about the last time I picked up a soldering iron.  Oh the horror...

I did some searches here on the boards, but I couldn't really dig anything up with a problem like this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

when it reboots 3 times and does not start up again it's your MS BIOS ( what you flashed your mod to )

the only fix for this is a chip.
you need to bypass the MS bios all together.

usually this is caused from static or power surge

sorry about your luck but mod or no mod this is a normal problem.
your mod did not kill your xbox, or make it bad.

it happens just try not to keep your xbox on the carpet or vacum near it if all possible.
also some cheap ships will not fix it. like DuoX will not fix it.
but a SmartXX or Xenium will.

try a solderless chip if you dont want to solder.

It's bad news indeed, but at least I finally got an answer.  The IRC channel is hit or miss unless you idle there for a few days. :-/

Thanks so much for the answer.  I've been eyeing the SmartXX chip for a while.  I'll give it a whirl.  I can solder ok and my coworker said he'll do it for me to save my precious hands (and xbox).

I ordered my mod chip.  Let's hope that fixes the problem, or else I'm out over $60. ;-)

My xbox didn't even cost me that much.  hah.

Just wondered if you guys had any ideas of this problem:

My xbox is quite an old one and i xuccessfully installed evox using the 007 agent under file exploit went like a dream,however on my partners boys xbox a newer model (crystal xbox) when i attempted to install the same on this using the same guide as before it went as far as install ude then screen went off then started flashing red ang green with error 21 top left of screen saying it needs service (or words to that effect) at one point i did get error 13 despite this i managed to uninstall ude and get back to msdashboard the following is the info:

K:1.00.5838.01
D:1.00.5659.03

i tried this twice on this xbox with the same results,i did notice on one post that said something about updating the xbox live if this is the case are there certain games that contain the xbox live update,although im a bit confused about this as the softmod went on mine no problem and my xbox being older so im a bit confused as i would have said my xbox would need the update,unless Msoft have patched or locked the newr xbox(crystal_ in some way,any ideas would be welcome ..thanks.

I would use the Krayzie UXE installer its newer and should work with no problem,I think it works with  all modles of xbox

yes it works on all version Xbox's But Krayzie Ndure is the Newies But UXE is grate aswell
