honestly Zzk2001, this is an AMAZING video, or videos. it involves almost no thinking on my part cuz u cover EVERYTHING! greatly done and much appreciated. for clarification. i create the Linux CD and then when i take apart my comp, i attatch my XB's harddrive to my comp right, cuz i wanna fix the XB's HD right? and then i use my comps CD drive right? thanks.

to be honest, this is the first forum ive been to where the MODs actually participate as much if not more than the regular members. like whenever u post a question, ur most likely gonna get pro advice from a pro modder. i just think that its a noble enough act that it deserves its rightly due gratification. i mean making a tut video, or any video isnt easy, i know. so for someone to go through all lengths just to make sure that it is universally understood, well, like i said, is pretty noble. plus i kinda feel bad for pissing off Zzk in one of the posts.

hey hey. im pretty psyched. my sis came to visit for winter holidays, and she bought this really cool really new and suprisingly really well priced SONY vaio, so she gave me her old DELL laptop! i know it may not seem that bigga deal, but i just got a laptop, i think thats pretty cool. now i have another thing that ill prolly f*** up. regardless i actually do have a question.
i was wondering if i could use my laptop instead of my comp to format my XB HD. like do the whole XBHDM thing except ill dissassemble my laptop. is it possible? cuz like i noticed that i can just slide my laptop HD in and out, so it allows a little bit of easier access to the connecting port. but i noticed that the laptops HD connection is not similar to the PCs HD connection, which i believe is IDE. i think u all know what i mean but ill put up some pics later on. anyways, if lets say i got some sort of a connection adapter, that enables me to hook up my XB HD to my laptop, would i be able to restore my xB HD? thanks.

if it's IDE you can get a 2.5 ot 3.5 converter cable and use it that way. XBOXHDM is so nice you can use it on an old P2 (not reccommended) it just takes longer.
maybe just maybe you can set the boot priority to CD first then USB second and plug up a external case and pop in the harddrive you wanna build into the external case. the problem with that is I'm not sure if XBOXHDM has usb drivers to pick it up.
but anywho I've never really looked into doing it that way. I just use an older PC for all my experimentings. so far the thing still boots up and runs.
