Well, I got tired of my old 160GB Hard Drive in my Xbox, so I decided to install a 200GB one. I used THIS tutorial to do it. Only problem is that I have a softmodded Xbox. But I did it anyways. All was well until I tried the "lockhd -a" command. It told me my Hard Drive was frozen. I am on a eMachines W3615 right now, and the hard drive I am trying is the Maxtor 6L200P0 200GB drive. It tells me that it is compatable, so I don't see the big deal. Any idea on how to fix this?

I guessed as much. Hey, now that I have my hard drive installed, and modded with Mech Assault, I only have a total of 150 / 200 GB available. Is there a way to mod it with a small C, and huge E? Like have C the same size as it is (with MS Dash on it with ~500MB spare) then have an E drive the size of the rest of the drive?

if you want to do that you can with XBPartitioner (i put it in the file section) BUT it is strongly RECOMMEND AGAINST by me and everyone else

Why shouldnt I use it? All I want is a C for MS dash, and another partition for my dash, games, ect...

becuase it cuases problems, you can use whatever you want, but they say you should leave partitions 0-4 ALONE, that includes E drive just use the F drive

Well I want a hard drive that has my dash and at least 190 GB of space on it. I can get over the other partitions, but I want them smaller...
And what problems does it cause? Would I have to reprogram my dash?

what you Should do and ONLY do is Set all on F: with XBPartitioner
Really any drive lower then about 300gigs Should do fine Without even useing XBPartitioner and placeing all on F: =)
BUT trying to set it up for all on like E: would just make for alot of problems

if you want to know the problems that it can cuase, thats to bad becuase there are no specific problems
but think of it like this... ALL M$ xbox software believes that aprox. 300mb-C 5.3gb-E 800mb-X,Y,Z (cache) it ignores anything past that (remeber the seagate are 10gb drives, so it proves my point) you go screwing around with that and who KNOWS what will happend, but stuff does happen
just set it to F with XBPartitioner and go (you can use some dashes to do that, like UnleashX)
EDIT: changed E to F (typo)

Wait a second... I can make:
E like 198GB C at 300MB X, Y, OR Z as cache at 800MB F at like 8MB?
And do you need all X, Y, and Z? Can't you have just 1 at about 1 Gig?

I think He Ment all on F: LOL
as E: should Only handle arond about 4g
and Yes you Must have the X, Y, Z
Haveing more then 97% of the HDD space on F: should work for you Just fine =)
Really I have Mine setup as F: and G: and it works for me just Fine (BUT if at the time If I had that option for placeing all on F: i would have LOL)
