x86 is the 32bit architecture
x64 is the 64bit arch

the 64 arch is different better worse, it depends on what you need

64 bit has the potential to run way faster then 32bit aka x86 but compatibility can be a pain. 64 bit windows xp is a major fail for normal pc users because compatabilty with hardware is software can be very limited even though it can emulate 32bit, it is still no garentee software will work. 64 bit vista is much better, and has alot more advantages, one being dx10 in games, you can generaly see a 5fps rise from 32bit ultimate to 64bit ultimate. linux can run in 64 bit and prgrams can be recompiled or what ever else has to be done to get them to run, also most newer 64 bit distros come with a full 32bit environment built in like opensuse

if you don't know open up the start menu and right click computer and select properties it should come up with another window that will say if it is a 32 bit aka x86 or if it's a 64 bit aka x64and there you go =]

is it true that x86 can only hold and manage 4GB of RAM and x64 can do 8GB? I was reading up on buying new RAM, and that popped up...

ummm from my knowledge I'm not sure, It might be because I think Mine can only handle 4GB max I believe. soo I'm not 100% on that.

windows limits it to 3gb because after that 32bit begins to loose control of the ram and not use it efficiently. 64bit on the other hand can handle tons more, i dont know off of the top of my head how much though.

Hmmm guess imma go 64bit then.

Whats everyones take on ATI,Nvidia,AMD,and Intel? because I love Nvidia and Intel but people keep telling back and fourth oh well AMD's used to be the best but now Intel's got some really good stuff now and oh ATI used to be great but are like sucking gas now compared to Nvidia and I just wanna know what the best is right now because I want the best  and I don't wanna make a mistake on buying a crap video card and be stuck with it or something like that.
