P4 are not dual core, Pd's are. but with hyperthreading, it doubles the pipes the processor uses, so with your computer setup, it might think you have to cpu's/cores.

hmmm interesting cause i've always wondered why it said that, also do you guys know if i would have to get an HD Monitor if i upgrade my video card from a NVIDIA GeForce 5500 to a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 because it says its HD but it doesn't specify that you have to have it HD or not?

it should come with a converter in the box so you can connect a VGA monitor to it
it's just a little thing that you plug in the DVI port so you can plug in a VGA plug

HD on the nvidia box just means its hdcp compliant. but nvidia also has a special software built into the card called true hd. what it does, is it uses the graphics cards gpu more the the pc's cpu to render, and play higher grade video's on crappier cpu's like yours(no offence). by hd monitor, do you mean a tv/ monitor, or a higher res monitor that can accept hdcp signals and use signals like 720p and 1080i?

well, i dont see a need for you to go completely crazy and buy something like a 8800gtx with that slow of a system anyways. i would suggest a nvidia 7600 gt or 7900gt, or maybe even a 7950, as you wouldnt see that much a difference from one of those cards to a 8800 series because of your slower system, and you can save some money.
