hey everyone, ive got problems, hehe.
i installed a USB 2.0 [4 ports plus 1 (internal) port] PCI card, and the thing said plug and play, but its not. dont know what to do to get it working. and whenever i put in a disk in my DVDrom drive, the auto play window doesnt come up (you know: play media files, open folder, take no action). so i go to my comp and when i click D: (my disk drive) the comp restarts. any way to fix this? thanks.

http://www.driverguide.com

They require a user login which is free and they have a lot of drivers.

also check your power supply....

it's it's run down or low power it'll only power so many things.
you can try things like: unplugging your floppy drive to conserve power and if your CD rom works then you know it's your PSU.

hehehe, dude, i LOVE the layout, reminds me of old times...

the brand of the USB 2.0 PCI card is some "Masscool" brand, and it didnt come with a disticnt drivers CD. it said it was plug and play.

the thing is that the DVD drive used to work fine before but ever since i upgraded my GFX card, its restarting... thanks.

You should try removing the drive, restarting the pc, then turn it back off and place it back in and restart. That way it will re-install all the drivers on the PC about how it should communicate with the dvd-drive. It sounds a little farfetched but it's worth a shot. If it doesn't work then I would try upgrading your GFX card drivers. It has to be the GFX card or the DVD-Drive itself now that you excluded the USB card.

i tried doing what u said doc (i realized u said to remove the DVD drive not the GFX card) and i removed it, started up, shut down, put it back in, and started back up again, and the same s**t happens. it restart when i want to access the disk. like i can put in the disk fine. but nothin comes up, so i have to go to my comp and when i double click my disk drive, it restarts then. anyways, im gonna try updating the video cards drivers like u said doc, maybe that will do something, i dont know.

btw, my USB 2.0 ports still dont work, any ideas on that?

EDIT: well it seems i have the latest drivers for my card. im officially at a dead end. sorry fot he negativity, its just, well u all know the saying "technology is great... when it works", well ive added on "and a btich the rest of the time". hehe.
