Grin Hi all. Firstly, i'd like to thank ZZK for his excellent video and tutorial on the hotswap. This s-mod worked perfectly first time.
Now to my problem. My brother saw my soft modded box and decided that he wanted me to do the same for him as he has no pc.
I did warn him that it could knacker his box, but he said go ahead anyway, knowing that mine worked first time.
I commenced work on the mod, but explorer360 couldnt see drive and now his box has error code 7.
Now although I informed him that I couldnt be held responsible for any damege resulting from this, I do feel that i must try and fix it somehow.
I dont know how common this error is or whether i sound like a complete twat asking, but can anybody help?
Thanks in advance
Shady

7 - kernel - HDD timeout

Most of the times, the IDE cable is not properly connected when you see this error. Please reattach the ide cable. Not only to the harddisk drive but also to the dvd drive. ALso try to reconnect the ide cable to the motherboard.

Press pretty hard so it goes all the way in. Make sure it is seated straight and proper in the drives and the motherboard. If you still have an error 7. Try another ide cable. If that won't work try another harddisk. If there is still no go, try to set the jumpers on the rearside of the harddisk drive. Set it to master or cable select. If still no succes, good luck and sell your xbox to me rolleyes.gif

well if you have checked all of the connections (ide and power) to the hdd and dvd rom drive... then it seems like this hdd is done for.  Ive gotten this error when the hdd is dead.  Does the HDD spin up when you turn on your xbox?  Usually we would try a new hdd in the xbox to confirm that it is indeed the hdd that is broken, but this isnt really possible with the method of modding you are using.  My suggestion is to buy a modchip, install it and put a new hdd in the xbox, so its not completely fubar'd.  The reason you need a mod chip is because with a softmod, you cannot boot an unlocked drive, and since you do not have the eeprom image, you cannot lock another drive and use it.
