16  Xbox 360 / Questions / Re: Real men go HARD! on: January 11, 2009, 04:30:37 AM

17  Xbox 360 / Questions / Re: Real men go HARD! on: January 11, 2009, 01:13:44 AM
now is where it gets tricky. I was doing some reading as as per this book*** my drive is a Hitachi v79, and in order to flash it, i have to purchase and install (solder) a v79 key. now me being at a soldering skill level that barely surpasses soldering USB cables together, i am pretty sure that micro-soldering is lightyears away. i even told myself "you can do it, you really can" ..... NO, i cant. and the soldering is just to get it into MODE B so that it CAN be flashed, i still have to flash it and for that i must purchase a SATA raid PCI card. see, i'd be fine if i just had to flash it, but the whole intermediate step... i don't think so. the way i see it, the whole procedure is gonne run me around $50, not to mention the nerves. wouldn't it be more practical to hard mod the 360? i mean i figure either way the case comes off and there's gonna be some internal work, i just want to keep the work and the risk to a minimum, and in the end achieve the same result... playing backed up disks. any ideas? thanks.

*** oh heres the book im talking about

P.S. what about purchasing an already flashed DVD drive, perhaps a BenQ, Lite-on, Samsung... could i just plug in the xbox 360 SATA into that and would my xbox be modded?

many thnaks for clearing that up. so no hardware required just firmware flashing... alright. i think i saw a flashing tutorial around here... thanks a bunch.

I've been searching all over the internet and have succeeded in further confusing myself. Soft mods are great, but I'd prefer something more tangible. That being said, with regards to hard mods, which mod chip should I purchase which will allow the 360 to play backed up games which has a good lifespan?

I saw this online (LINK) and it brought out a few "oohs" and "aahs" but i still dont know exactly what it does. all i need is something that allows backed up game play-ability, preferably something I DON'T have to solder.

P.S. I'm assuming that the only other method of modding is that whole flashing business. I still can't figure that one out...
20  Computer / General Discussion / Re: Need help with Sony Vegas install on: August 13, 2008, 11:43:31 PM
ever thought about d/ling Vegas 8.0. I mean the interfaces are identical, and frankly its just easier. im pretty sure there's a torrent up somewhere and the file size is considerably small compared to other major video editing softwares. so with that said it wont take very long to get it all d/led and up and running.

22  Computer / General Discussion / Re: Cassette tape to CD on: August 03, 2008, 04:43:40 PM

23  Computer / General Discussion / Cassette tape to CD on: August 03, 2008, 11:46:03 AM
hey everyone,
a few days ago my grand dad asked if there was a device which he could use to transfer his cassette tapes to CD. now i know how to do such a task using a computer, but he says that he doesn't even know how to power on a comp, let alone run software from it. plus, he doesn't actually own a computer. so i was wondering if there is a standalone device that can perform this task for him. so that he just has to insert his tape and CD and the machine takes care of the rest. anything like that on the market? eBay? for cheap? any advice would be mist appreciated, thanks.
24  Computer / General Discussion / Re: How can I track up/downloads made on my IP address? on: July 12, 2008, 01:48:23 PM

25  Computer / General Discussion / Re: How can I track up/downloads made on my IP address? on: July 12, 2008, 10:26:28 AM
i installed cFos and i read up and it seems promising. is there any sort of configuring i have to do. the idea of increased up/download speeds and minimal latency sounds very nice, however i do not know how to take full advantage of it with my current router. how would i go about configuring it, that is if i have to at all. also how can i find how much ive been DLing?
26  Computer / General Discussion / Re: How can I track up/downloads made on my IP address? on: July 11, 2008, 03:33:52 PM
my PC is running XP. thanks.
27  Computer / General Discussion / How can I track up/downloads made on my IP address? on: July 11, 2008, 12:19:03 PM
hey guys, ive recently run into a scenario that hasn't really given way to any solution. u see my current ISP is Rogers Cable, and so far, the DL and UL speeds are nice. i even installed an N-router and the network speeds and commendable. however with this upgrade comes mounting temptation... downloading... a lot. now this normally wouldn't be a problem, except that my ISP has limited my household to a mere 60 GB limit (monthly). i shouldn't say "mere" bc that is a lot of stuff. however recently ive been getting notices that ive been exceeding my DL allowance, and that I will have to pay for the extra GBs ive been DLing. my argument is that I have no way of tracking how much am DLing and therefore can not stay within a safe zone. so I ask is there any app that i can run which can track how much i am DL/ULing from my computer network? Thanks.
28  Computer / General Discussion / Re: Arg! YouTube and the law... on: July 10, 2008, 09:53:27 PM
so i guess i did install it, bc i have VLC on my pc.
29  Computer / General Discussion / Re: Arg! YouTube and the law... on: July 10, 2008, 04:50:54 PM
i dont recall ever installing it... but why would i need it?
30  Computer / General Discussion / Re: Arg! YouTube and the law... on: July 09, 2008, 12:22:30 PM
awesome. i guess there really was no problem. i upped almost a season of "Grounded for life" and the few videos that were ID'ed as copyrighted material are just going to have ads for the production company on the video pages. no videos or accounts are going to be deleted. that makes me happy. thanks for all the help.
