Monday, September 17th, 2007Finaly the new psp slim owners can use 1.50 kernal homebrew on their m33 psp’s! Now this is great because most of the homebrew to this date require a 1.50 kernal to run. Before this we had to use a program that would change the eboot.pbp signature to run like a 2.00+ kernal.
I know that a lot will probably wonder what the use of this is now that we have Pandora out so that anyone can downgrade, well the main reason is the PSP-Lite. As a lot of people are finding out the PSP Lite is unable to run 1.50 kernel, this means that old homebrew games are not able to run on the PSP Lite custom firmware, however eLoader makes it possible to run some of these older games without needing to recompile them. So I hope all you new PSP Lite owners enjoy getting to see some of the old homebrew games running on the new device.

Well the story is that M33 is pissed off that their “private svn” was leaked. And with this being done, not only were CFW makers benefiting from it, but as well as Sony. Thats right now Sony can use this against us CFW users/makers to hinder the CFW making, “This intrusion into one of the basis of the actual PSP Scene, has just made harm to the entire world of the PSP Scene. Therefore, Sony saw this and made some interesting changes in some modules (mainly loadcore), plus the change of some nids that are used to the development of M33 Custom Firmware.” says M33. Lets just hope the M33 keeps bringing that wonderful CFW.

3.60 M33 For The PSP Slim!

As of a couple of days ago the PSP slim has been hacked via Pandora’s Battery and now even has its own custom firmware made by of course the new M33 team. More from PSP-hacks.
All the steps are detailed in “readme.en” for English readers, and “readme.ru” for Russians.
3.60 M33 for PSP Slim has all the features of 3.52 M33, except the 1.50 kernel support, as that kernel doesn’t work properly on psp slim (hardware problems, screen problems). 3.60 M33 will load homebrew from GAME, GAME150 and GAME360 directories, but all will be executed with 3.60 kernel.
This mean that some homebrew done specifically for the 1.50 kernel cannot work on 3.60 M33. However, the adaptation of code to 2.XX+ kernels is not difficult, and homebrew developers can port their applications to work in these firmwares.
And to answer your next question: “is M33 gonna make a 3.60 cfw for the fat psp’s?”
The firmware as it is flashed in the slim psp’s is only for psp slims. Whenever Sony releases an updater, we’ll support both, fat and slim psp’s, but we are not gonna make a custom firmware using 3.60 slim dump, because it is not done for the fat psp. Stop listening stupid rumors of kids: we are 103% sure that Sony will continue releasing firmware updates for all psp’s. Moreover, the 3.60 firmware was done before 3.52: the pops, for example, is a clone of the one of 3.50/3.51. So it has nothing new for fat psp’s.

The installation procedure closely resembles that of Special/Open Edition (SE/OE):
If you are under official 1.50 PSP firmware, copy kxploitpatcher and kxploitpatcher% folders from “1.50only/” of this download to your “ms0:/PSP/GAME/” and use it.
Once done it, or if you are under any Special/Open Edition, copy M33CREATOR folder to your “ms0:/PSP/GAME” (1.50fw) or “ms0:/PSP/GAME150″ (SE/OE)
Download official 3.51 eboot, rename it to 351.PBP and place it on “ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/” or “ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33 CREATOR/”
Download official 1.50 eboot, rename it to 150.PBP and place it on “ms0:/PSP/GAME/M33CREATOR/” or “ms0:/PSP/GAME150/M33 CREATOR/”
Go to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute “3.51 M33 CREATOR”. Once finished, it will go back to the XMB.
Go again to Games/Memory Stick on your PSP, and execute “3.51 M33UPDATE”. You’ll have to press X to agree to the installation.
When finished, press X to shut down and reboot manually.
Enjoy your 3.51 M33

Seeing those screenshots and reading the title may already give you an idea what we’re going to talk about in this article. A lot were enamored with the Gears of War XMB theme we featured a few days back and, with the other XMB themes we dished out, now it’s homebrew developer VibeStar’s turn to hog the XMB themes limelight.
Through our forums, VibeStar released Blocki Full XMB Theme. He mentions that he made the whole theme, but the bootwave and wave are made by someone else. He mentions that Blocki is a spin-off of the iPhone skin he has created and is tested on a FW 3.03 OE handheld. The package you could get includes:
