Introducing liquidzigong’s Prometheus — zzk will worship this — play 6.20 required games on custom firmware 5.00 M33 or 5.50 GEN. Once again it’s a process but you know that’ll be simplified sooner or later… Probably by Hercules or someone.

What you’ll need (download below):

* Prometheus
* WQSG_UMD
* UMD Dump PRX
* PRXDecrypter or ISO Tool

What to do:

1. Create an ISO of whatever 6.20-required game.
2. Open that ISO in WQSG_UMD (or UMDGEN, or even WinRar )and browse to PSP_GAME/SYSDIR.
3. Extract EBOOT.BIN to a temporary folder.
4. Use PRXDecrypter (or ISO Tool) to decrypt the extracted EBOOT.BIN file and rename it to EBOOT.OLD.
5. Extract the Prometheus RAR archive so you have prometheus.prx and a new EBOOT.BIN.
6. In WQSG_UMD drag ‘n drop the EBOOT.OLD, EBOOT.BIN and prometheus.prx files back to PSP_GAME/SYSDIR. See above screenshot.
7. Copy the ISO to your memory stick and try it out.

Using UMD Dump PRX and ISO Tool you could probably skip a step or two. You know, there’s more than one way to skin a cat.

Also mentioned at the source is that KHBBS works using the above + this extra bit: (I haven’t confirmed it myself)

1. for KHBBS, you have to decrypt BBS1/2/3.DAT then put back to PSPGAME/USRDIR
2. for 5.00M33, you have to decrypt all PRX files (EBOOT.BIN?PSPGAME/USRDIR/MODULES/*.PRX) then repack the ISO
3. orevious modification on EBOOT.BIN/PRX files (like sceUtilitO”) are not required.
