Yes i know Hotswaping is not New But a program call Xplorer360 Is
and with this Nice program you can Easly  restore a Xbox from error code 21 or 13  (any dash error)

(NOTE) Never At anypoint trun Xbox OFF with IDE Unpluged  this will KILL the Xbox HDD if Done

thangs you'll Need

1. xbox with error code 21 or 13

2.  A fresh copy of C: and E: you can get at www.smdepot.net/files.php
or http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2PQ3V6LM
(Note) DO NOT USE the SID 4.0 installer in this Pack

3. Xplorer360 - witch you can get from Here or
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/system_tools/manage_external_devices/xplorer360.cfm

4. a PC with 2 IDE connections  (aka) Primary master and Secondary master

OK frist thangs frist you need to take Out all HDDs and CD/DVD roms from your PC

Now place your PC's HDD with OS on it  On Secondary master you can check to see witch IDE is Secondary master by going in to PC Bios

Trun on Pc  BUT befor pc boots up Hit the Pause/break button on your Keybarod
Now here is the Hard part...

Trun Xbox On... Just befor the Error code pops up Unplug the Xbox's IDE  soon after you do that the Xbox with read error Code or will Stick on the Big X screen

(Note) when doing this with No error code the Xbox Stoped and Stuck on the Big X screen.,  With error code the xbox gone right to error code

OK now plug in the Xbox HDD into the PC (Primary master)  and hit any key on Keybarod to boot PC
(Note) this may take time to Boot DO NOT TRUN PC OFF

After Pc is On and your On Winxp  Start
xplorer360.exe

Now click on Drive>Open>Harddrive or Memcard
(Note) you may get a Error This is Fine As long as you see the partitions Popup in the Left hand screen

(NOTE) at this Point if you Backed up eeprom.bin with Softmod Look for it and copy it to PC Now
Should be in E:/dashbarods/Backup
or C:backup or E:/Backup

partition 3 = C:
partition 4 = E:

just delete everythang in partition 3  and partition 4

Now you'll Have to do File By File with partition 3 (aka C:\)

HighLite pertion 3 and Right click on right side sreen pick Insert file
just do this with the 3 files in C:
xboxdash.xbe, Xbox.xtf, Xboxbook.xtf
Now right click agin this time Pick Insert Folder
pick Audio, Fonts, xboxdashdata.185ead00, xodash (One By One)

Now Highlite on partition 4 and delete all thats in it
Now Make 2 folders  UDATA and TDATA

Now just Unplaug IDE from PC then place Xbox HDD back On Xbox's IDE then trun OFF Xbox And trun Back On
(Note) DO NOT TRUN XBOX OFF IF IDE IS UNPLUGED FROM XBOX HDD

ok, i have a question, when i remove the ide cable, do i also need to remove the power cable? I'm confused about that part, could you help me out?

Also would this only work for an xbox thats was previously modded/softmodded?

Thanks in advance

Take care

Sad Did not work. As soon as I take the Ide cable out of the xbox it pauses on the xbox logo screen,. In order for the xbox to go to the error screen I must leave the Ide cable in there, untill it does.

If i leave it on the xbox screen, the computer wont start when i switch Ide cable, it goes to another screen
If i leave it on the error screen computer boots up to windows xp
When i open up exploror 360, it says "not found fatx drive", and the partiions do not appear:(

Any help would be aprieated

frist you must unplug the xbox IDE right after the flaber But befor the error screen

Next Trun On Pc  BUT befor it Boots up Hit the Pause/Break Key
now connect Pc IDE to Xbox HDD and hit any key to start boot up

(Note) you may need to hit Enter Meany times for PC to boot
(bootting will go slow)

This is not working for me. I've tried it muliple time but xplorer360 keeps telling me that no fatx drive where found. I did all of the steps without a hitch but to no avail. Just to double check I went into system properties under hardware and the drive is there so I know windows is seeing it. What can I be doing wrong?

sounds like the drive just isnt being unlocked before you are swapping... try unplugging the ide and power from the dvd-rom drive in the xbox and having it boot to a dvd drive error, and once it reaches this error screen, the hdd should be unlocked, then continue with the hotswap as normal

yes, you put your os hd as secondary master, and hit the pause/break during boot up of computer. jus rly pay attention to the video and i would say watch it as you do it, but that would be kinda hard unless you have a ipod or psp. i would right down all the key steps, because you wont be able to veiw the tutorial unless you have another electronic witha  webbrowser
