to Start i Never truned my fan speeds up till about 1week ago

befor i would leve my xbox on for Days.... Hell even Weeks
and xbox would still be kicking strong

Well one day i tryed truning up the fan speed hopeing to make the CPU and GPU cooler
so i set it to 40% thinking thats not to high and should Help

Well.. the CPU and GPU did get cooler BUT...... HDD got Fucking Hot as hell
i keep the xbox on for about 1 day and when i got up the xbox shut down on me
and i was getting a error 13 when trying to trun it on
i let the Xbox HDD cool down then i truned it back on and low and be hold it Worked

My guess is that the fan was pushing out to much air from the system and the HDD was not getting any air to
keep cool
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEEP YOUR XBOX AT 20% DO NOT SET HIGHER OR YOU RISK MESSING UP YOUR HDD

you need the cross winds to cool your HDD and if set higher then 20% you push to much air out of the system and you get NO cross winds to cool your HDD

(In the Poll i don't Mean the Temp it's at When you frist trun your Xbox on)

most ppl's HDD will be around 70°-80° when you frist trun it On after about 2 or so Hours thats when you'll see you're Set Temp
hope that it's around 115°-130°    around 145° or 150° it may shut down on you

My HDD after about 3or4 hours gets to about 120° and stays there no matter how long i leve it on

and i have left it on for weeks befor =)

The same exact thing happened to me!

You would think that it would be the other way around.

I've ran mine at 40% for the last year or so, I have a 300gig 7200 rpm drive, but most of the time my cover is off my xbox.

I just turned it down to the normal fan speed after reading this post.

I've never had a problem with overheating or freezing up.
I'm not tring to start now.

thanks ZZK2001 for the heads up

I am runing at 30% Now to test Cuz with my New LEDs it gets alittle hotter  Hopeing  30% is good =)

(Update)  NO 30% is not Good Same thang happend to me Agin came home from work xbox was on this time but i started to play a game and then it frozz on me i trun Xbox Off and trun it back on And Got Error 21 =( waitting about 2mins then trun back on agin and got Error 13 =( =( =(  i was thinking Maybe i really Fucked this up this time =)  But after about 20mins of keeping it off i truned it Back on and
BAM!! it was backup and runing =)

SO in Short KEEP you'r FAN SPEED at 20%  even if you got LEDs =)

Cuz of winter my xbox HDD stays at around 111-115 =)
