in theory you can get a external hardrive adn set it on a (Made USB for Xbox) and format it as a Very big memcard

the xbox memcard is just a same HDD in it's self

(i have yet to try this BUT i am sure it would work )

i have tested psp pro Duo 2g  and work just like i state

I think an external HD will be too slow.

If all you want to use it for is to watch movies with XBMC, my suggestion would be streaming.  I have m xbox connected to my router all the time, and I use CCXstream Server on my computer.  Once it is installed on the computer you drag the folders you would like to share with the xbox onto the servers window and you computer will always stream them to the box.  I do not rember where I got CCXstream from, Google will find it.  Then in XBMC goto my videos and there will be and optin for your server (auto detect).
Sorry I can't be more specific but I'm not at home to look on the xbox.

Any question about this let me know and I'll get all the infoand beter direction for ya later.

really you don't need too do all that to stream files to xbox just setup network Share and in XBMC
click on workgroup

it's just like if you have a PC on the Network

(Not sure if it will work with cross over)

thangs you'll nee

1.router or HUB
2.Xbox with XBMC
