oh yeah, with my new found 'expertise' i realised that setting up ICS can be confusing and is un neccesary (for FTPing to the xbox). Just plug the xbox to the pc and adjust your TCP ports IP to match your dashboard settings for PCs IP...

Im currently using my xbox as a portable memory for transfering shiznit onto my brand spanking new (but not yet online) pc... kinda makes me wish the Ethernet port was at the front of the damn thang... psh bah flah etc.

    An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
    Server closed connection
    Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)...
    Continue to login attempt 2...
    Resolving host name "192.168.1.103"

well it seems to me like you have conflicting software issues.
try disabling your auto protect / firewall / whatever

if you still have problems type this into IE: ftp://xbox:xbox@192.168.1.103:21
if you can acces it this way, change port/passive values on smartFTP or alternatively, try another FTP prgram (i personally reccoment cuteFTP)

hope this helps
let me know

Hey man,

Get look@lan you can find it here. : http://www.snapfiles.com/dlnow/rdir.dll?id=106049 - it's simple im sure you can get it.. just install and run. It'll list every item on your network. And it will also tell you which one is your xbox.. it'll read (not windows).

Once you determine which ip your xbox is using puch that in smart ftp. Then username xbox password xbox. If that still doesn't work change the settings on your xbox to dhcp.. you can change  this in evox settings. Then reboot, restart look@lan and find the ip.. then try that. It will most likely work. Let us know.

192.168.1.1 is your router IP

open your network connection
and goto details and look up your

IP: 192.168.1.100
SUBNETMASK: 255.255.255.0
DEFUALT GATEWAY: 192.168.1.1
DNS SERVER: 192.168.1.13

then set your xbox to DHCP and read what the IP address off your TV screen when the xbox is turned on
if you IP is 192.168.1.100
and you xbox is the only other thing on the network, the xbox IP will be
192.168.1.101
user = xbox
pass= xbox
port 21

good luck

hey I have a problem with this stuff. The password doesn't seem to work. Everytime I put in the username and password it says the username is not correct. I have the EvolutionX V+3921 and the game loads automatically everytime I insert it. Also I don't know how to access the evox.ini file everyone talks about sorry for being such a noob but I get frustrated with this stuff...and another thing which type of disc do you recomend for backing up games? the DVD-R or DVD+R because with the DVD+R I haven't been able to make any game to run properly but fighting games

One thing worth mentioning that other might come up against -- I couldn't enable ICS, getting an error saying the ip address needed was already used (paraphrased). I had to go to my router and reset it's ip address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 to get this to work. After that, ICS worked fine.

Awesome tutorial, I can FTP my ass off!
