FTPING THE XBOX

ok i think that i am the dumbist kid in the world ok this is a yes or no question do i have to install the softmod 1st and leave the networking setting to the why it is should i leave it in static mod ro do i have to change it to DHCP someone plz help i am so sorry that i started 3 topics but i really need help

I new to this too but  I will try .Im sure you have to softmod only way to unlock it to ftp and I would leave it to dhcp if you have it connected to a router

last i heard yes it needs to be softmodded
i've heard dhcp stuff works, but
i have my static on
ip set to 192.168.2.3 <-- cuz my gateway is 192.168.2.1
and it works
when i want to crossover, i just turn static off...
simple for me,

1. Yes, as far as I know, you must have the softmod installed to gain FTP access to your xbox.

2. It shouldn't matter which setting you use to connect with FTP. I use DHCP, just makes sense for me. I also have my xbox set to automatically detect my DHCP client...works great.

o i did it to my boys xbox but i have one question u have to backup the eeprom C: AND E: when the xbox is modded or when the xbox is geting modded but i have to ipl connected to static cuz i dont have a router

When you are installing the softmod it it will tell tell you to back up eeprom once you have the eeprom backed up and the softmod installed just ftp to the xbox and back up c and e , but most of all make sure you have the eeprom .Save it to  hard drive, burn it to disk just make sure you save the eeprom the most important part with that you can almost always bring your xbox back from opps I didnt just do that .

Me myself  soon after eeprom is backed up i make a ftp connection and backup the eeprom

Just to make sure if anything does go wrong i know i can fit it
