How to get Call of Duty: Black Ops working

(UPDATE-2(Nov,14,2010): If your using the NEW payload v3/3.50 Spoof you do NOT need to apply this fix.)

Update: I have re-made this to a more understanding Tut.

I extracted the EBOOT.BIN file from the 1.02 debug update modified them and made a pack here: www.smdepot.net/zzk/PS3/black_ops_eboot.rar

(make sure you backup all your files first in case you do something wrong)

Step 1: Download the files Above

Step 2: In the GAMEZ/"Blackops"/PS3_GAME/ folder Edit the PARAM.SFO with sfo editor to 3.4000 "copy edited .sfo to PS3 in the GAMEZ/"Blackops"/PS3_GAME/ folder".

Step 3: Update the game to 1.02 using the retail update for your region.
(note if you use the wrong update it will result in a black screen)

Step 3.1: After you install the pkg launch a FTP server and go to /dev_hdd0/mms/db/ and search a file called metadata_db_hdd open it in a hex editor and search 3.50, and change to 3.4000 "make sure to Reboot Ps3 After editing this Or you will just keep getting a black screen"
(Use this Hex program http://www.handshake.de/user/chmaas/delphi/download/xvi32.zip )

Step 4: After your update has finished, open comgenie or ftp and go to:

dev_hdd0/game/"Blackops"/USRDIR and put the eboot.bin from the pack here
(This is NOT the Black ops game that's in the GAMEZ folder) This is the update that's in the game folder.

Step 5: Go to dev_hdd0/game/"Blackops"/
Copy over the PARAM.SFO in this folder to PC and Edit it using sfo editor "edit to 3.4000" (aka just change the 5 to a 4) Now save and FTP it back to PS3 replacing it

Step 6: Double check everything, Then Load Gaia manager (Patch mode OFF) And play game from Disc
(AKA place any PS3 game into the PS3 and play) DONE.

HOW TO GET MP TO WORK 100% Noob friendly
"Note BACK UP ALL FILE BEFORE DOING THIS"

1.download the MP_Pack file (It will have the patched t5mp_ps3f file and Modified t5_ps3f.self file)

2. FTP into your PS3 and go to dev_hdd0/GAME/"Blackops"(BLXXXXXX)/USRDIR folder and delete Both t5 files.

3. Go into the dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/BLXXXXXX/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/ Folder Delete Both t5 files

4. Now Open MP_Pack.rar and Copy both t5 files to dev_hdd0/GAMEZ/BLXXXXXX/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/ It should now look like this
(Note the file sizes)

5. Exit Out of FTP and Play the game, MP should work 100% and you can switch from MP to SP without it freezing Grin

Q&A's

Q: My Black Ops folder is not called Blackops so.. do i rename it?

A: where it says dev_hdd0/GAME/"Blackops"/PS3_GAME It does not mean the folder called "Blackops" but the folder that the "Blackops" is in, It could be like,BLUS30591,BLES01035 or BLES01032

Q: MP is still not working WHY?

A: The Modified t5_ps3f.self is from the BLES01031 Update Eboot.bin file SO it may NOT work on other versions, BUT it's easy to make your own.
1. Just get the Eboot.bin from the dev_hdd0/game/BLXXXXXX/USRDIR/ Folder and Rename it t5_ps3f.self "That's it, you now have a Modified t5_ps3f.self"
