#Xbins is an mIRC room on EFnet servers. It is also the name of the biggest xbox software hosting site. ***REMEMBER*** WE HAVE A FILE HOSTING SETCION OF SMDEPOT.NET HEEEERRRE. IT IS EASIER TO GET THE FILES YOU NEED BUT WE HAVE A SMALLER SELECTION. IF YOU ENJOY THE USE OF OUR FILES SECTION, PLEASE ALLOW US TO CONTINUE IT BY DONATING.

Whats is IRC?

IRC (Internet Relay Chat) is a virtual meeting place where people from all over the world can meet and talk; you'll find the whole diversity of human interests, ideas, and issues here, and you'll be able to participate in group discussions on one of the many thousands of IRC channels, on hundreds of IRC networks, or just talk in private to family or friends, wherever they are in the world.

How Do I Access #Xbins?

You need the program mIRC. Its an IRC client. Its also shareware, which means it has a free evaluation period of 30 days. After these 30 dyas however, mIRC is still useable for free Tongue. When you have it, change server to anf EFnet server. Preferably the one nearest to you.
When you are connected, there are a few basic commands you need to know. All mIRC commands will start with a /

/join #name_of_room - to join a channel. For SMDepots room, type '/join #softmods' for #xbins type '/join #xbins'
/nick yournickname - this changes your nickname on mIRC.
/part - leaves the room in your active window.
/quit - quits IRC and closes the program.
/msg nickname - this sends a private message to the user you label it to.

Theres hundreds more, but these are the basics you need. If #xbins is empty, you are not on EFnet. There's usually 400-700 people in #xbins.

How Do I Get Files From #Xbins?

First search for the file here to find its directory.
When you are in #xbins on EFnet, follow the instructions you are given on join. these are type /msg xbins !list. Once this is done, a  window will popup giving you details of the FTP site and username and password.

Open your FTP program (everyone seems to like flash FXP) and input all the details they gave you. Now follow through the directories and find the file you want. To transfere it to your pc, drag and drop it into the left hand PC column.

Rules

Each person is allowed 30 files a day (text/NFO files do not count toward this, please RTFM). We do NOT tolerate GREED and you shall be banned if you break this rule. Got an ACCESS DENIED error? DON'T use IE or LeechFTP. Use FlashFXP/SmartFTP/CuteFTP for best results. AFTER EVERY ATTEMPT, SUCCESSFUL OR NOT, YOU NEED TO !list AGAIN.

BTW you cannot talk in #xbins, it is moderated. For help with #xbins join #softmods or #xbins-help. For ALL softmod and occassionally general questions, come to #softmods. You'll be surprised how much we know Wink
