Sony Files Suit Against Mod Chip Resellers- August 27, 2010
Sony is granted a temporary injunction with the Australian courts preventing mod chip resellers such as OzModChips, ModSupplier, and Quantronics from importing & selling PS JailBreak until Sony comes up with a "game plan". Sony has until September 3rd to plead their case so that the PSJailbreak never becomes distributed outside of the country.
Ozmodchips releases a statement concerning the injunction put forth by Sony.
X3jailbreak Confirmed Legit- August 30, 2010
While most are waiting so see what happens with the PSjailbreak related injunction, clones start popping up based on the code from the initial PSjailbreak. One such clone, X3Jailbreak, is announced and confirmed as a legitimate hack. Said clones will be distributed on a pre-load USB dongle at a reduced cost compared to the original PSJailbreak dongle hack distributed by Ozmodchips
PsJailbreak Update- August 29, 2010
The good folk over at PSJailbreak announce an update to their backup manager releasing version 1.1. They go on the record as well claiming the delay in shipment was not due to Sony's injunction but rather to update retail packaging and software bits.
X3jailbreak Scheduled Timeline- August 30, 2010
Yay! Screw waiting for the overpriced and practically crippled PSJailbreak to be shipped, who knows how long they'll be battling Sony in court for the right to distribute their hack! Pre-orders can go down as early as September 6 and shipments will start being sent out on September 10th.
PS JailBreak Cloned (Again) by Respected PSP Hackers- August 31, 2010
I’m saying “respected PSP hackers” because I’m not sure of their actual group name, if a name even exists… But you probably recognize this particular name if you’re a PSP-hacks reader: Mathieulh. And Mathieulh tweets, “Someone from our group just successfully cloned the psjailbreak dongle. Going to improve the shell code soon. BUT, A quick follow-up to clarify some things… Mathieulh and Co. does not plan on releasing anything but some good, solid documentation. Reverse, improve, document. That’s the plan.
Open Source Strikes back with the PSGroove!- August 31, 2010
A PS Jailbreak clone has been created by a talented team of hackers who release their source code with details pertaining to the hack on github and divuldge their efforts with the ps3wiki reverse engineering doc. The hack is enabled by flashing a Teensy++ USB Dev Board, an AT90USBKEY or a BlackcatUSB. A do-it-yourself at home solution has now been made freely available to the masses and confirmed functional. Check out the README for more deets...PS Jailbreak who?
Sony Wins Australian Court Case- September 2, 2010
Sony is granted a perminent injunction with the Government of Australia. What does this mean? All importing or exporting of the PSJailbreak Dongle is 100% illegal. Sony to receive all profits made from any previous distributions and will also receive money from the modchip resellers in addition to damages incurred and legal costs etc...ouch. The most important and exciting news in the PS3 Hacks scene just got old pretty damn quick
PSFreedom – Hack your PS3 using a Nokia N900!- September 3, 2010
KaKaRoTo has been hard at work with his clone of the PSJailbreak code entitle PSFreedom. The hack is confirmed to work with the Nokia N900. I did not see that one coming. Good news for those of you who were not able to get their hands on a teensy++ 2.0 or an AT90USBKEY before they all sold out. Double XP awarded to those of you who actually have one of these lying around
PSGroove Updates- September 5, 2010
Things are really starting to heat up now. With the Open Source PSGroove out in the wild, everyone and their haxor moms are rolling their sleeves up and digging in to take a look at this in order to port the exploit over to as many devices as possible. Mathieulh confirms a psp port is possible but it's just taking a bit more time than originally expected. MuscleNerd confirms he's working on an iPhone port and it's coming along swimmingly, just a matter of time now. Blanke_Zero is working on a palm Pre port and PSGroove is being ported to the PIC18F2550 which is compatible with a larger amount of USB Board. Good times!
Hack Your PS3 with a Dingoo!- September 5, 2010
It’s PSFreedom ported to a Dingoo. Say what now — a Dingoo? Nah, not the Australian Dingo; they’re not allowed to deal in PS JailBreak. Dingoo is a gaming handheld — the device you see attached to the PS3 below — that I had no idea existed until now. Anyway, if you got one, you know what to do.
