I found a really cheap SATA HDD 500 GB, did anyone attempt to use SATA on 1st xbox with the sata to ide convertor??? Is it even possible.

It is possible. But 500GB PATA's are less work and are very common. Why not just use Pata instead?

To answer your question. The hard drive must be lockable. To find out if it is. Go to the site below and enter your hard drive model #. And if it states "yes" under looking then it will work.

PATA, IDE Same Thing ? Right? I just found that PATA(IDE) are much more expensive then SATA. That's why I posted my question. Just trying to save some money that is all Grin

Yes pata/ide same thing. They are more expensive I dont know why Sad
Well either way you buy the sata drive + the adapter it may come to the same thing. You might as well buy a bigger Sata drive.

sorry i wouldnt be able to tell you i dont know. it should be okay
but sata ftp transfer speeds may be a bit slower
