The reasons I'm wanting to do this was because the wii is not wanting to play the games that it was playing a few months ago.  Any ideas on why that might be?  sometimes it doesnt read the disk at all and other times it opens then stops and other times it plays for 15-30 mins and then stops...

Nittanys1 that's the DVD rom drive going bad, that has nothing to do with the homebrew channel.

your best bet is use a DVD-cleaner see if that helps.

on my 3.4u  it won't install the cios fix.wad in custom wm, also in wad manager all i get is a black screen.
