I have this motherboard:
http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/D945GCL/index.htm

Will this video card work on it?
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3244223&CatId=1558

Now, is there a better video card for $50 than this? And what video card would you recommend for this motherboard on a $50 budget?

Also, what's the difference in PCI Express 1.0 and PCI Express 2.0? Will just a PCI Express slot work for both? And what does the x16 mean?

yes that will work

and stay away from tigerdirect
use newegg.com

express 2.0 is a later standard that 1.0, 1.0 can work in 2.0 slots, 2.0 WILL NOT WORK in 1.0 slots

x16 refers to the lanes
its very technical and if you were  A+ cert or you ever read an A+ book you would know
you also wouldnt ask if a card was compatible cuase thats one of the main things they teach you how to do, figure out what will work
Wink

you should look into A+, youll see your PC in a whole new light

Well, I read an A+ book in a tech class, but it was from 1970 :PP KIDDING, but it was OLD. I couldn't stand the oldness.

So how can I tell if it is PCI 2.0? What is that really tiny black PCI slot on my mobo?

EDIT: 2 weeks ago, I ordered RAM from newegg. A week later, it didnt even send. I canceled my order and went to Tigerdirect. For 2$ shipping, I got that RAM, a sound card, a flash drive, and a DVD burner and it got here in about 1 full week. It'd be hard trusting newegg again...

Expansion Capabilities

    * Two PCI Conventional* bus connectors
    * One PCI Express* x1 bus add-in card connector
    * One PCI Express* x16 bus add-in card connector

and it will say 2.0

Well, it does have 1 gig of RAM, and it only req. a 300W supply. I have a 300watt. And the first card req. 350 Tongue I think ima go with the BFG. I'm not too sure yet though.

They're both GeForce 8500's though Smiley
