i tried all my keys and after a few times i get "security count expired:yes" how do i reset that?

wait a little while and try again

also if you locked with the XboxHDM disc
Choose option 4 at the main menu
Unlock the drive with the master code : "XBOXSCENE" no quotes

otherwise just wait a little while

dont use hddunlock
they charge a fortune when your pc can unlock it with out the stupid program they use

they simply use algorithms to unlock the HDD, you can get the same progams freeware with a little googling

cool thanks guys.it worked after a reboot.apparently you only get three tries per boot up. i got it done the second time around.sux when you are the one your friends come to for their modding.i was using the same disc for several boxes and forgot it didnt have the key to mine anymore.i now have a working 250g drive in my box.

yeah some drivers give more than 3 tries, others less
i have an original seagate drive that locked after one time
but the 320 maxtor i have will NEVER lock up, so far as i can tell

just remeber to reboot is all you have to do
