yeah yachi was saying all those programs make for a slow startup even if they all dont boot, they all drain the HDD speed thus slowing the start up
Calm down people it was a stupid misunderstanding

my HDD Maxed out with only 1 gig free and Pc never slows Down
Only way you could get slowed down by that was if you got a 256MB CPU with a crapy IDE HDD

Yes a sata 5400rpm is faster then a 7200rpm IDE as a sata transfers at 300mb and IDE can only do 100mb Alot of places like Seagate show that on there Box now as IDE/100 and SATA/300 http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8294/8294632_ra.jpgand you got to take in the MB if it's just a crapy 4mb IDE it will go slow too as i have a 16mb Sata =)

most new MB's have both
and yes there is converters, but you would be limited to 100mb, either way
IDE to SATA = IDE is only 100mb SATA to IDE = SATA is brought down to 100mb

My Main PC: OS: Ubuntu 7.0.4 CPU: Intel Pentium II, 455mhz Video: Ati Riva 16mb Ram:256mb pci 100 HDD: 8gb
... yeah, I'm not kidding I'm sad because I don't have the money to get a new one. When I do I'm going to buy a good refurbished dell laptop, put linux on it, and run compiz...
