What I want to know is if I could use one of my old xbox hard's as a backup for my PC, some what like a secondary harddrive. I have the eeprom and the hdkey.txt so i think this is all i need if i really wanted to do this. But my question is how, and i do have the Xboxhd v1.9 One disk for all thanks to Boost.

This could really come in handy if I ever had to recover my pc with the 8GB xbox hd in my pc  Wink

EDIT: New TUT here http://www.smdepot.net/forum/index.php?topic=1642.0

unlock your xbox with the eeprom using xbox hdm. Then put the jumper on slave, and your good to go.

you will have to go into your administrative tools and format the drive FULLY it will take a while just leave the comp alone so Start->Admin Tools->Computer Management (or sumting like that) and then at the bottom there is a little
  • box click it and double click the long space in disk 1 and format

well windows cant rly see it cuz it isnt fat32 or ntfs, its fatx, so use windows format utility like art2fly said, or try norton partition magic, or maybe even your pc bios can format it for you.

It took like 5 min, if you dont know what im talking about don't try this!!!!

NOTE: TO EVERY ONE PLEASE UNPLUG YOUR COMPUTER WHEN YOUR GOING TO PUT THE XBOX HARD DRIVE IN. I DON'T WANT YOU TO END UP KILLING YOURSELF OR SHOCKING YOURSELF. IN NO WAY AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT MAY HAPPEN YOU, YOUR COMPUTER, YOUR XBOX, XBOX HARD DRIVE OR ANYTHING IN ANY CASE..
!!!!DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

put in the hard drive on primary master and booting it up on xboxhd v1.9
then hit #3 for unlocking and locking tools;   unlock -a it, reboot
then boot it up again this time chose #1 xbox tools; xboxhd then  #5 that clears the portions table
Poweroff and put it on the second IDE for the slave and put your OG Xp HD as master
Turned it on, go to Start-->My Computer right click it and click Manage

Then go to Disk Management, should now look like this

Right click the new drive (Disk 1) to initialize it

Once you choose initialize, another window will come up asking you which drive to initialize, of course disk 1. Hit next

Then when thats done, right click it again and this time it'll say "New Partition"

And from their a wizerd will take you through the rest and it should be really easy... and after is done doing its thing you'll have a new hard drive for wat ever you want to put in it Grin
