This is how to add an extra button to ure xbox controller that will turn on/off ure xbox.

first off open ure xbox

now remove the front panel and solder some wire to the on/off button (bottom left or bottom right)

then tape it down

now, locate the yellow wire comin from the first port and cut it

now connect the wire soldered to the power button

solder and tape

now, grab ure controller and open it

locate the connectors on the front of da controller

now find the yellow and ground

solder some wire onto ure button as shown(sorry, i dont kno the name of this type of button)

solder ure button to the yellow and ground

test that it works(mine does)

next, grab ure controller case and find somwhere to insert ure button

theres a tight squeeze where it put it so no glue needed

heres mine finished

Dice, if your going to try this, I'd recommend Soldering and possibly sticking a dab of hot glue. But definitely solder. Smiley Ensures a proper connection between the two electrical components. Where as you run the risk of getting hot glue between say your wire and the solder point which can cause some irritating problems.

would it be possible just to take out the button with desoldering braid then do it,  or does the button need to be there?

no it wudnt. cos they stay down and we only need a small signal to go threw the yellow/ground.

i find a lot of these in rc car controllers. or if you find a broken xbox controller the thumb clicks are those kind of buttons.
