Title: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: drfweega on January 19, 2007, 07:22:45 PM I have had 3 hdds crash in the past week. I don't know why .. I'm not abusive towards them and they have a good home :) .
I have a: 480w Power Supply ASUS P5NSLI Intel C2D 6400 2x 512 DDR2 1x GeForce 7800GT I had a 200gb, 160gb and a stock xbox hdd I put in to test crash. I have it on a power strip that runs fine with my other PC. My processor is running at 50 degrees Celcius, which I was browsing the web and I read somewhere that it wasn't high. I am in desperate need. I have like 5 fans keeping my PC cold. Any help would be nice, - Doctor Fweega Title: Re: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: Kyla666 (zzk2001) on January 19, 2007, 10:06:42 PM make sure you got Fan speed down to 20%

Title: Re: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: Blink on January 20, 2007, 12:57:58 AM I'd say try a different power supply out because that is probably the problem.
Title: Re: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: drfweega on January 20, 2007, 09:15:40 AM Ok, that would make sense because it is probably not sending enough power to the hdds which is making it fry. I'll try that.. thanks guys.
EDIT: Ok, I don't have a big enough powersupply lying around the house to check it with so I am going to take it to the store where I got it in the first place and see if they can switch out powersupplys. Geez, it really sucks that I haven't been able to use Photoshop lately to make some sigs or even those tutorials that I said I was going to make. :( I have really bad luck Title: Re: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: Snafupossum on January 21, 2007, 04:15:55 AM i have almost the same setup and a hiper(brand) 580 watt power supply. jus to give you a idea on what you might need. heres a reveiw on it http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/reviews-21.html (http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/reviews-21.html)
Title: Re: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: drfweega on January 21, 2007, 09:58:10 AM Yeah, I am most likely going to have to upgrade my ps.
Thanks for the help guys. EDIT: Good news. I just got a 550w powersupply for free and its working like a charm, the pc hasn't gimped up yet. Title: Re: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: Snafupossum on January 21, 2007, 11:18:02 PM woohoo :)

Title: Re: Hard Drives Keep Crashing Post by: Snafupossum on January 22, 2007, 03:02:36 PM is the power supply sli capable/ready? it should say it on the box. if you dont have the box, google search the model and see.
