Title: Hard Drives Keep Crashing
Post by: drfweega on January 19, 2007, 07:22:45 PM
I have had 3 hdds crash in the past week. I don't know why .. I'm not abusive towards them and they have a good home :) .

I have a:

480w Power Supply
ASUS P5NSLI
Intel C2D 6400
2x 512 DDR2
1x GeForce 7800GT

I had a 200gb, 160gb and a stock xbox hdd I put in to test crash. I have it on a power strip that runs fine with my other PC. My processor is running at 50 degrees Celcius, which I was browsing the web and I read somewhere that it wasn't high. I am in desperate need. I have like 5 fans keeping my PC cold.

Any help would be nice,

- Doctor Fweega

make sure you got Fan speed down to 20%

or it may just bee the xbox or HDDs are bad

I'd say try a different power supply out because that is probably the problem.

Ok, that would make sense because it is probably not sending enough power to the hdds which is making it fry. I'll try that.. thanks guys.

EDIT: Ok, I don't have a big enough powersupply lying around the house to check it with so I am going to take it to the store where I got it in the first place and see if they can switch out powersupplys. Geez, it really sucks that I haven't been able to use Photoshop lately to make some sigs or even those tutorials that I said I was going to make. :( I have really bad luck

What will happen when I put in another video card to run SLI? Do you think it will mess up again?

is the power supply sli capable/ready? it should say it on the box. if you dont have the box, google search the model and see.
