inside teh 360 is just a normal dvd drive, they are however coming out with a external hd drive, and as for +R compadability, i dont hink different companies make adifference, jus if its -R +R .. and so in, just like on original xbox, some of the drives have problems reading +R dvd's while it reads -R dvd's perfect

edit: any dual layer DVD+R DL will work as long as u burn as close as possible to 2x burn speed, yes kinda cslow but will keep game from messing up

Yes yopu must use DVD+R DL Discs..
I prefer Verbatim since htey burn and read the best and you can burn at 4x and the game plays perfectly.

this is how i do it

after time, verbatim tend to not work, and you will need to start to mess with different disc that use diff die. but sometimes verbatim can work for a long long time w/o haveing to reajust the laser or start looking for new disc types.

supposedly verbatims are the best to use for xbox 360 games.

I use whatever I can find cheap at work.... right now I'm using Nexxtech DVD+r DL, I have acquired a few verb's from Wicked, but I can't afford them.

verbatims are said to be better on the laser in the 360, and last longer. I am sure snafu has his reasons to disagree, but I just use whatever.... Nexxtech, Memorex, Verbatim....???

but neways i only use verbatiums, out of 150 burns only 1 bad burn
easy on the laser as well
i havnt had much luck with other disks, 50/50 chance of a good burn

I'm confused. Can you play burned 360 games on the 360 just by cloning them? Or do I have to mod it first?

Alright, I can say from what experience I've had STAY AWAY FROM GQ BRAND ANYTHING.

It won't play. If it does, it will play poorly.

Going to get some Verbatim's as soon as possible and see if that's the answer to my woes...

Damn you, GQ.

Damn you.

I've also had no problems with Memorex burning Mirror's Edge. Worked the first time and still works!

I will use nothing else but Memorex DVD-R's. They are the shiz-nit.

Indeed. Not having any problems on either disk type since I lowered my pots from 4.3 to 3.2 K.
