Title: DS modding
Post by: Kyla666 (zzk2001) on June 27, 2006, 08:42:44 AM
well i got my Passcard 3 and M3  and i have to say it's Way to easy to use
(http://www.smdepot.net/zzk/passcard.jpg)

BUT... when i frist got it, it keepped getting a error when trying to transfer a .nds to the SD card useing the SD card Reader i got with the Passcard3 and M3  I looked in to it And found the SD card reader Was bad and got me a New 12 in 1 Card reader and It works Fine Now

ok moveing On with How to Use your PassCard v3 + M3  (i am useing the SD Slim Version of M3 )

frist take your SD card and format it to Fat16 with Windows  Next download the M3 software update
(can find this at M3 home page under downloads) Version to Date is v21

now just copy over the updagcsd.e21 (for SD M3 Only )  and put in to DS now power on DS and it will ask if you like to update hit Start (yes)

thats it for That

Now download  M3 GAME Manager V21b.exe put SD card in SD card reader and open M3 GAME Manager pick SD and click OK

on the left side pick the Root of where your SD is  My root SD card is H:
click on Wright Nds and pick the DS game you like to play  a new screen will pop up and set settings to your likeing them hit OK  (should only take about 5-20sec)  depends on card speed and computer

now just pop your SD in to the M3 and put passcard3 in DS with M3 and trun on  you'll see M3 screen Pick Games and pick your game Done your Now playing your game =)

i have around 33 games on my 2g SD card and still have 1g left =)

you need

1. pass devies  (aka) passMe, Passcard  ( i would get a passcard3)

2. a flash card  ( there are Many i would get a M3 ) or G6

3. what ever the Flash card takes (aka) SD, miniSD, MicroSD, CF etc etc

you can get the NEW card that plugs right in to The DS slot 1 and you don't need any Passcard or flashcard

But

i would get a Passcard 3 with M3 lite with a nice 2g mircoSD  =)

hey well
you say you can use the new card that plugs into the ds?
why would you not use this and choose the other way over this?]
and just to make this clear in my mind you use the passcard 3( software to use on the ds ) and m3 ( which is the card adaptor for the normal sd card ) right? ????
oh and  is it risky? like could you screw up your ds?

you use that because you can always go to the store and buy another cheap sd card if you want more :) and no as long as you go to legit places to get the roms

is there a site on the net with like instuctions to mod the ds?
or is it as simple as i am seeing it to be? i am seeing that you just need a sd card and a adaptor for the sd to the ds and then you just copy a file that like moderflies the ds and then you can have games on the sd card and just play them off it?

Ok so im a n00b at modding the xbox(im learning) i did mod my ds a while back. It is simple straight forward.
my setup is micro SD card (recently got 4gig), Supercard Lite (doesnt even stick out of Ds lite), unforutanely im still running off of a superpass 2. that sticks out of the ds, i need to upgrade that. but thats it

Media Card (SD, CF, ect.)
a matching reader (supercard mini, mini sd; lite, micro; ect.)
and a pass device (that lets the ds read through the gba port)

or you could get one of those all in one, only need slot 1 (ds card), with 4 gig of memory if you wanna be lazy. i use my micro sd card in my phone too so my set up works great for me.

in total i think i spent around $60 on it (not including my sd card) it wasnt bad though

There Are New ones where you just Use a DS type Card with Micro SD  NO need for Passme Or GBA Flash card

Title: Re: DS modding

and wat about gba?

Title: Re: DS modding
Post by: GamezR2EZ on March 30, 2007, 09:55:13 AM
Well if you dont have a DS GET ONE! lol, i love mine. but if you just have a gba then yeah they have some stuff just for gba. look here: http://eng.supercard.cn/download.htm (http://eng.supercard.cn/download.htm)
these are just the downloads for the software, i used http://linker4u.com/pp/linker4u.asp (http://linker4u.com/pp/linker4u.asp) to get the actual SuperCard. You could look around for the card that fits what you need though

Ones that just work for gba are ones like: SuperCard SD & MiniSD, Supercard CF, Movie Player (i personally didnt like that one, but to each his own), just look around there are every where. The great thing about it is if you got one of these and you ever got a DS then all youd need to play DS games is a passcard or something similiar.

Each DS game card has a signiture on it, without that the ds wouldnt play it. What the passcard, superpass, all those, all they do is provide that sig. so the ds would read from slot 2, the gba slot. So basically the Supercard is built for gba but can run on the ds.

well we don't promote piracy -but- here is what i think you can download a game and try it out for like 10 minuets kinda like a free demo -then- you delete the game and go buy the game -if- it's worthwhile to play it

actually the laws (as of 4\25\07) stipulate the a game can be downloaded and played on a trial basis for 24 hours after that the game must then be purchased or deleted. the only problem is sites that have hosted roms on this trial basis have been shut down cause the bug they put in the to kill the game after 24 hours had an antidote that was released by the site itself in most case. but you know if you look for sites hosted outside of the country you can still find sites that offer these full rom downloads without any  bugs

so i would like to say Guten Tag and happy searching for these frozenroms ;)

Should I get this?

Title: Re: DS modding
Post by: GamezR2EZ on September 11, 2007, 03:50:58 PM
no you shouldnt

if youre getting it for media, google "moonshell for ds"
IT DOESNT HAVE GBA SUPPORT thats a bummer for me, so not for 50 dollars and you still need a passcard of some sort

since i love my product i will recommend it yet again http://eng.supercard.cn/download.htm (http://eng.supercard.cn/download.htm)

i have never had a problem with it, so yes at the risk of being repetitavie there it is

and one more thing, if you tell me what youre looking for i can help find the best for you

(ds, ds lite, mainly for media, mainly for games, stuff like that)

Title: Re: DS modding
Post by: jdogg69 on September 11, 2007, 04:10:24 PM
Well I have  DS lite and media is important and so are DS games. Advance games and other emulators arent that important.

Title: Re: DS modding
Post by: GamezR2EZ on September 11, 2007, 04:17:58 PM
ok well media is not realy a problem

http://mdxonline.dyndns.org/archives/2007/03/moonshell_ver171_top.shtml (http://mdxonline.dyndns.org/archives/2007/03/moonshell_ver171_top.shtml)
thats moonshells home site
just look for the download its in english

as far as games, you probably want one that fits the ds without sticking out, and rumbles

do you want the 2 slot combo (occupies slot 2 and 1) or just one that use the ds slot (you cant get a rumble pack with that)

Title: Re: DS modding
Post by: jdogg69 on September 11, 2007, 04:36:07 PM
im not sure what i want realy, I'm kinda new to this. I found a open box at best buy for $100CAN and figured I would mod it right away. I don't want rumble and I don't want something that will stick out too much. I like the option of being able to have external memory  such as a micro sd card instead of built in memory.

if you don't care about GBA games just get a Slot1 card like
 M3 DS Simply
or
R4

then just get a Micro SD  And all set
