Title: XBMC INSTALLER - Hardmod - 2010 - Please Help
Post by: ninjauk on June 11, 2010, 03:32:13 PM
Hi Guys
Great to finally get an old retro XBOX back, although it has a x3 xecuter chip in it....

I am trying to source the XBMC INSTALLER DISC that used to float around, can anyone help , I dont care too much which version as it is only for playing XVID and automatically grabbing the covers from the folder name...

Really need a download location for XBMC installer disc....Links on the site are now all dead...

Can you help ?

Yeah i can make it a .iso for you no problem.

i have two versions

1. a full installer CD with (Emus, apps, dashboards,XBMC etc etc)

2. Just the XBMC installer it's self.

the Installer CD v3.0 would take a little time to upload as it's like 800mbs =P but the XBMC installer is just 123mbs

Hmmm.. i may need to change the code a little bit.

do you need to change the main dash on C: ? or can you set bios to load from dash from E:/Dashboard  ?

Looking at the settings, I can change the drive of the dashboard, to C,E,F,G , although there are no dashboards installed anywhere (formatted hdd through x3 options)..

On a footnote, am I correct in thinking I could 'prep up' another Hdd for an unmodded machine with this hard modded machine ?

Thanks again

each hdd is locked to their own motherboard
so you wont be able to "prep up" an hdd on one xbox and then put it into another one unless you have it locked to the other one with its eeprom

Thats strange - i remember there used to be a method you could mod a unmodded box if you had a modded box... perhaps I'm wrong...

anyways back to the subject.... :)

Something like that
There was an option to use a modded xbox so that you could ftp the exploit to the modded xbox onto a memory card if you did not own an action replay

I'm guessing you have a hardmod? If so your dashboard belongs in C: and is named evoxdash.xbe
what you could do is download xbmc from http://217.118.215.116/ (download the latest one)
step 1) download the latest one
step 2) extract it
step 3) Copy all the content from the xbmc folder
4) rename default.xbe to evoxdash.xbe (since you want it to be your dash)
5) now ftp the content into C:
and you should be good to go

No - I need the installer disk... I do have a hardmod as mentioned...

I really need the installer CD , as I currently have NO dash, I can only boot directly to the chip and or from a CD...

Thanks for the input anyways dude :) .. Just awaiting ZZK2001 and his technical skills to create me that disk :)

OK well after looking into the X3 and how it all works the Old Installer CD will do fine.

1. Use the installer CD http://www.smdepot.net/zzk/Install_XBMC_by_zzk2001.iso and install XBMC to E:/dashbored or E:/apps/XBMC   (DOES NOT MATTER)

2. Reboot into your X3 bios settings
Go to Customize X3 BIOS
(http://x3.bustedchain.com/img/x3configlive/x3configlive.gif)

3. you should be on this screen
(http://x3.bustedchain.com/img/x3configlive/customizex3bios.gif)

4. it should be easy to understand at this point =P  setup the Dashboard settings like (Dashboard Boot Drive) to E:\Dashboard or E:\apps\XBMC

IF that does not work i'll just re-edit the installer config to override MS dash LOL  ;D Who needs that crappy M$ dash anyways  ::)

Not getting much joy to be honest :(

Let em explain the situation again

The Hdd has been formatted by X3 and the partitions created, but as yet NOTHIGN is on the drive

So i run the installer you sent me , installed it to e , set the dashboard to e, made sure it chose xbmc.xbe to boot from (even tried changing it to default.xbe) and still nothing...

I can assure you chip and drive are working well, can you suggest anything esle that may be stopping it , I would love to get this thign sorted ASAP as I want to replace the PS3 in the lviing room with the xbox as I MUCH prefer XMBC :)

Couple of questions :
1 - What is the name of the xbe file it tries to load ?
2 - Why wont it work (edited after 1 hour of trying and going nuts!!!)

Thank You

XBMC should be named default.xbe   :-[ this is why i like Softmod better  ;D easy to use and easy to setup.

Give me a Few mins and i'll edit up the codes with what i am reading on this site for installing the XBMC on X3 modchip Xbox.

But from what i read, with XBMC installed to E:/XBMC all you should need to do is
set dashboard bootdrive to e
edit a dashboard filename to XBMC\default.xbe
set XBMC\default.xbe to 1st dashboard boot priority

YAY !! All up and running , although I had to use the Slayers disk and some messing with the X3 settings to do it, then just ftpd over the XBMC latest tech release, replacing the .xbe to the XBMC one, now it auto boots into the dash

Runnign PM3.hd SKIN, I have it auto booting into the VIDEO folder, although it just shows me the MOVIES FOLDER, ADD SOURCE and VIDEO PLUGINS

I would prefer to edit somethign so that it goes directly INTO the MOVIES folder (the movies folder being my added source from the network)

Also I remember editing it many moons ago so that instead of goign itno folders browsing it would just AUTO PLAY the folder...

So nasically fi I can get my Network Share Movie Folder up on boot, then pressing (A) (or any button would be nice) , would just auto play the selected folder.. I know it can be done , i did it many moons ago...

And YES Definately agree, Softmod was SOOOOO MUCH EASIER !!

thanks in advance
