Title: Modding an old XBOX. Updating Dashboard. Post by: jjv3131 on May 01, 2009, 10:13:42 AM Hey guys. I have a question. My uncle wants me to Softmod his XBOX for $30.......yeah. Lol. Anyway, he has the old XBOX the one that don't have the XBOX Live option. I heard you have to update the dashboard to the latest one before softmodding. How do I do this? I heard you can update it with a game that can connect to XBOX live. Would Splinter cell work to update the dashboard?

I would go half way where it ask you to begin installing but didn't. Instead, I would back up the eeprom first and FTP the eeprom.bin to the computer. Then FTP again and delete the old dash in the C:, and send over the new dash (MSdash 5960) that we have in our files section. Reboot the xbox, and finally modding it with the new dash installed but thats just me :D its really up to you...... |
