Calm down people it was a stupid misunderstanding

my HDD Maxed out  with only 1 gig  free and Pc never slows Down

Only way you could get slowed down by that was if you got a 256MB CPU  with a crapy IDE HDD

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: GamezR2EZ on September 16, 2007, 01:16:32 PM
i have a crappy IDE HDD :'(

i also have SATA but its 5400rpm would that e faster than a 7200 IDE? i wouldnt think so.....

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: Kyla666 (zzk2001) on September 16, 2007, 01:37:55 PM
Yes a sata 5400rpm is faster then a 7200rpm IDE

as a sata transfers at 300mb and IDE can only do 100mb

Alot of places like Seagate show that on there Box now as

IDE/100  and SATA/300
http://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/images/products/8294/8294632_ra.jpg

and you got to take in the MB  if it's just a crapy 4mb IDE it will go slow too

as i have a 16mb Sata =)

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: GamezR2EZ on September 16, 2007, 01:43:24 PM
oops well then ill switch to the SATA, thanks

i guess i never thought about it like that even though i knew all that, weird huh?

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: Snafupossum on September 16, 2007, 02:24:18 PM
5400 rpm sata only run at 1.5g atleast 2.5 hdd do, i could be wrong...

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: Kyla666 (zzk2001) on September 16, 2007, 04:05:20 PM
yea the 5400 rpm sata only does 150mb  transfer But still better then 100mb transfer IDE =)

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: GamezR2EZ on September 16, 2007, 04:09:42 PM
well i installed XP on the SATA, and i can notice a slight increase in speed, but that could just be from a fresh OS, but thanx guys

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: Coburn on September 18, 2007, 08:20:48 PM
hmm.... I have IDE all the way. where can I get a computer that has both IDE and SATA AND is there a piece of hardware that transforms IDE to SATA and vise-versa?

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: GamezR2EZ on September 18, 2007, 08:26:54 PM
most new MB's have both

and yes there is converters, but you would be limited to 100mb, either way

IDE to SATA = IDE is only 100mb
SATA to IDE = SATA is brought down to 100mb

Title: Re: PC Spec Sheet [Everyone Post!]
Post by: Kingofrandom78 on September 18, 2007, 09:26:13 PM
Hahahahhaa, damn.

Yeh i think nearly every mobo out right now has both, but i can be shure zzk will have a new mobo with IDE or sumtin.

oh man i could give you some low low specs on my first PC wow
they have come a LONG way

but it was much simpler when 233mhx was better than 133mhz
now its like 5ghz isnt as god as the quad core that reads 2.4 unless its for games and then ............ i mean its so confusing wwhen i go to build a new computer for someone

i like all the choices but the old days were simpler
and DOS 6.0 rocks, ive had it from day 1 whoo!!!!!!
lol

I'm in the process of getting one built and it's done for the most part, all I need left is a new video card and two 22" monitors I'm saving up for. I'll finally be making the switch from CRT and it can't come soon enough. Also, I did have another 750GB in the PC and a 320GB, but the 320 I put in my girlfriend's PC and the 750 I'm trying to get working in the Xbox.

Anyways, here's where I'm at right now:

Custom PC is always FTW. Cheaper and much more reliable. Plus, each part has a warranty, not just the machine.

What was your price range?

Haha yea, we all make sacrifices. I had to drive a...FORD...yesterday. It was a Crown Victoria (old po-po car) and I totally beat the s**t outta it. Burn-outs at every stop sign and on-a-dime braking too. Fun times :P

PS I HATE Fords. I only had to drive it out of necessity. I got $100 out of it though. Lol don't ask.

I should post some pics of my new monster. I score like 200 points more than on my old system but quad core helps in some load situations. That score with only 200 point over the over system was just my 450 but with both my 450 and 8800 in it, it scores like 600-700 more points because I have the 8800 as my dedicated physx card.
