Hi guys, just want to say thanks to all people who run smdepot.

Anyway, let me get down to the problem. My xbox was working fine, until today... I tried to upload a couple rmbv (realplayer) file to my xbox hard drive via ftp, i first tried to upload them to drive F, it shows successfully uploaded, but when i click back to previous directory, everything on drive F is gone... Now, that's my stupid move... I tried it with drive F a couple times, same thing happened, it shows it was upload successfully, but then the moment u want to view it, everyting got erased, even previous files. Now i tried to upload to drive E, same thing HAPPENED, BUT NOW IT ALSO ERASED EVERYTHING ON MY DRIVE E!!!

am i screwed? cuz when i tried to reboot, it goes to the please call ms to have it service screen, i tried to put a game to see if it starts, NOPE.....

If you used a game to install the softmod then place it in the dvd drive and turn it off then back on and allow it to recognize it then then you can get a new FTP program to transfer over the files that are needed to boot. You could also try booting either Team SMD's Auto-Installer or zzk's installer disc to see if it will show up then you can tell it to rebuild your hdd.

I think the problem was with the program that you were using to transfer the files. I think it was formatting your drives for no apparent reason other than just to piss you off no doubt. I would try using FlashFXP or even using Internet Explorer. Here is a tutorial on how to FTP (http://smdepot.net/news/?page_id=24)

Thanks for the reply, I used splinter cell to softmod it, but i tried putting the game in, it still goes to the same warning menu. I think like you said, the ftp program for some reason format my hd. Is it possible to fix it by replacing the hard drive? or take the hard drive out and copy the neccessary file to it?

No the mod chip doesnt matter, just download and burn. One question, does the drive space show the drive is empty?
Ex. 160gb hdd, appears empty but only has 30gb free space

I have no idea why would coreftp format it, it NEVER happened before...

Download and burn one or the other of the installers. You can find them in our chat room by choosing chat on the homepage or if you already use IRC then /server irc.efnet.net  , /join #smdepot

If all that does not work =/ you may need to Remake the HDD in XboxHDm  Make sure with 160g HDD you split it off to F: and G: partions  as setting all On F: can cause problems/errors

Ok, i tried to download that installer for like 6 times, it  will just say finished even it's only 400mb.

i tried IE, netscape and getright (getright is even more messed up, it just download 40k and say its' done",

plz tell me how can i actually download the file. thx

by the way, i went to the file section with login and password, not mirc

You will need to extract it from the .rar file. Get WinRAR or ExtractNow (the free alternative to winrar). Then it will extract to a .iso that you can burn to a DVD.

the problem is, i can't download the complete file, it always say done when it's only 500mb out of the supposed 900mb.

Ok, successfully downloaded the installer today, and burn it on a DVD, when i turn it on, same thing happens, tried numerous time already, it looks like i have to rebuild the hard drive....

Hi guys, I need ot do the xboxhdm for my xbox, since none of the mthods mentioned above worked.

The thing is, how can I find eeprom.bin from my xbox? because I can't even ftp it.

and how can i find the hard drive key,

Why cant you ftp? you shud have backed it up wen you first modded.

shoot... if i didn't have it backed up, is this mean i am screwed?

I dont know if you used AR and a save hack but you should know how to hotswap. You can rebuild youre HDD with the below, i peiced it together to help out someone else should help you to. You could hotswap to rebuild (i know its my answer to everything). This way you dont need youre eeprom, but still back it up when youre done. This puts on UnleashX, if you want evox and xbmc put them in when youre doing step 2*. Dont put to much or youll have to burn a dvd.



#1 stuff you need
get this program xboxhdm_v1.9 from the file bank here
you said you used zzk hotswap mod so make sure you still have that around
get a cd-r or dvd or something you can burn onto
a program that can burn a iso (i reccomend imgburn http://www.mrbass.org/dvdburn/ (http://www.mrbass.org/dvdburn/))

extract xboxhdm_v1.9 and open the folder named linux
you should see a folder named C, E, F and some other files
take every thing out of zzk hotswap mod and put it in the corrosponding folders ( c to C, e to E, ect.)
*(put youre apps in a folder named apps in "f" folder, including xbmc and evox)
double click on make-iso-win
and it will make you an iso named linux

sart imgburn (or whatever program) and burn the iso to the disc you have

restart you computer and hotswap like normal (make sure the cd boots not you OS)
if the hotswap was done correctly the HDD is unlocked
type 1 hit enter
type xboxhd hit enter
type 1 (say yes to all the questions)
you should be able to keep your F drive if you want (or even have it)
just say no to the questions about the F drive

now after that finishes hit 8 to exit
when it is finished exiting pull the ide plug and hook your HDD back up to your xbox and power off
when you turn it back on the soft mod should be in the original state


thats it now get your EEPROM and you should be go to go
this worked for me so it should work for you

hope this helps, just find a different ftp program or at east upgrade it.

I didn't use the zzk hotswap, but it looks like it might be the solution

where does eeprom located? iis it c:/backup?

if that's the case, i think my eeprom is also wipe, because my whole C drive was formated

I also tried to plug in the xbox to my computer's secondary master, and hope to copy the eeprom file under windows. However, the xbox hd is detected under bios, but not in windows....

1 get zzks all-in-one from the "files" section (get the password from this website, do a search)
2 dont worry about your eeprom just yet
3 remove all the drives on the computer and set up the xbox harddrive as primary master with the cd\dvd drive as secondary master

i would be one of those people that took hotswapping to lightly
althought i do have a junker computer and harddrive i used so i could be a little more lax about it.

Ok one last question, does the xbox boot up to any dashboard? does it turn on to anything or does it go to an error code? if you dont have a dashboard then your only option is a hotswap if im not mistaken.

........ Well i would just run the Game with a Cold Boot (turn Xbox on with game in drive) then load the Softmod (aka Save) then Do a FTP of my eeprom and remake HDD (Done And Done)

basically this is the problem, and it looks like the best i can do is to sell the parts of my xbox on ebay to recover some of the lost......

... How did you A) format your C drive and   B) not get an eeprom? Did you at any time backup your eeprom to your Xbox during the initial mod? If so, I'm pretty sure theres applications that let you browse your xbox HD from your pc.

I remember i read a review somewhere that says

get a proper working xbox, and then boot a special Cd that allows u to recover C:

unplug the hd from the proper working xbox, plug in the corrupted xbox hd, then choose recover C: on the menu.

is there such a thing?

hi,, another problem, i want to upgrade the hd on my new xbox, since i have already took everything apart, might as well.

however, i dun think i can lock my new hard drive, and after i built my hd from scratch by using xboxhdm, my xbox turn on it gives me error code 5

error code 5 means my hd is not lock, can i use an unlock xbox drive?

from what i can tell it looks  abe  But there are Some No's But that could be human error

Make Sure you Have is Set on PrimaryMaster and CD-rom on secondery
0 would be the Primary

with computers the starting point is 0   

1=0
2=1
3=2
4=3

etc etc etc

You also have to have youre eeprom, and to get that you must have fix the original hdd, right? without the eeprom you need a modded box, am i right? anyway regardless of if the harddrive is lockable you still need to fix your original xbox hd to get the eeprom to lock the hdd

i would just do a Hotswap to fix it if he can't cold boot a boot disc

and with doing a hotswap he can get his eeprom and just scrap the Old HDD and just start off with the New HDD with useing XboxHDm and a Stock C: with Makeing E: with the two folders UDATA abd TDATA

then just do the softmod and done  =)

Yeah i agree with that anytime i have had these problems and hotswapping was the only/quickest way i could think of. Short of getting that 2 wire EEPROM reader on ebay. I know everybody was just waiting on my validation on this subject, lol.
